The heart and soul of the program is the database that is used to define what is measured, to store the data, and to provide the interface for reporting. Many plant databases currently used are not properly setup for successful measurement and monitoring. Kelm Engineering, LLC databases are setup using well defined sampling techniques and calculated band parameters to optimize the function to best identify machinery with mechanical or operational issues.
In order to have an effective machinery monitoring program, the database must be setup correctly and the data must be collected accurately. An inaccurate database setup can cause "nuisance alarms" or worse unexpected failures. We can review an existing database to verify that industry standard methods are correctly applied to the machinery. Additionally, we can train the personnel taking the vibration measurements to be knowledgeable with the database.
